Erica Wood, NZBS graduate at Fonterra

nzbs

Erica Wood is a graduate of NZBS at Ara Institute of Canterbury having come to us from Nelson College for Girls, via university. She is now working for Fonterra.

After NZBS she worked for a while in NZ, then for 7 years with Al Jazeera in London and Qatar before returning and producing at TVNZ for the past 4 years.

Just last week Erica moved to Fonterra which has its own newsroom, but not in the traditional sense. The company has dozens of staff generating content for its own channels and external stakeholders and Erica is now overseeing all of it.

"Fonterra is a really lovely, fun place to work", she said. "I had it drummed into me that going to comms was “going to the dark side”, but from what I’ve experienced so far, this place is full of really honest, hardworking and kind people. Communications is still writing, story-telling and producing, just in a different way. And the variety is still there too", Erica said. "There's written, audio and, increasingly important, video content all being produced inhouse".
