Kia ora,

My name is Emily, I'm a second year journalism student at the NZ Broadcasting School.

Consuming content within the realm of news and current affairs is a past time which for me, started at a very young age. It has always been a goal of mine to follow this interest, and pursue a career that allows me to inform, educate, and entertain. Consequently, attending the Broadcasting School has felt like a natural step.

I love people and have always been fascinated by their stories. It’s a privilege, both to carry the responsibility of sharing someone else’s story, and enlightening those engaging with it. To be able to do this sincerely and produce content that accurately informs, is something I am working hard to accomplish.

I have enjoyed getting a taste for different reporting styles, and also loved the researching and producing elements. I am grateful to have been able to delve into these interests as MetroNews producer.

Versatility is my main goal. This ever-evolving social climate is presenting the industry with new challenges – I’m determined to continue acquiring a range of skills to accommodate, and am looking forward to exploring the different ways reporting and engaging with news can be achieved.
