Kia Ora, I'm Travis Mitchell, an enthusiastic journalism student from Tairawhiti/Gisborne. 

Growing up in Gisborne surrounded by a diverse group of people helped me realise many people feel unheard, I believe that everyone deserves a voice so I now strive to tell the stories of people who can't. 

My whole life, I have been passionate about sport & interested in current affairs. I have played and follow a wide range of sports – always with an eagerness to deepen my knowledge. 

My passion for news started at a young age when I fell in love with television news - since then I have dreamed of becoming a storyteller for the people of Aotearoa.  

I always bring energy and a determined, open to learning mindset wherever I go, and I look forward to bringing all these attributes into your newsroom.
