Ruby Turnbull

Kia Ora, I'm a second year Journalism student at the New Zealand Broadcasting school.

Journalism is my passion. Namely because being a journalist requires critical thinking - I get to learn new things and enrich my own knowledge of the world. As well as learning myself, I get to share this knowledge with the world. This career allows me to meet a diverse range of people in a range of different places. It also gives me the privilege of peoples trust, which is humbling.

I love working with others to accomplish tasks. In turn, this builds my professional network and benefits my career. My outgoing and confident personality makes it easy for me to communicate with people in the industry and make them feel comfortable.

Despite loving all news, I have found my niche in court reporting. Going into court and being at the centre of crime, is something that stimulates me. Knowing that someones future can change in the blink of an eye, make's court reporting even more important.
