Ryan Stafford and Josh Robertson win at the Doc Edge International Film Festival
Screen students Ryan Stafford and Josh Robertson have recently won ‘Best Tertiary Documentary’ and was nominated for ‘Best NZ Short’ at the International Film Festival Doc Edge for their film ‘The Silent Alps'. This was an output from their second year documentary module.
The film brings to light the unheard recordings of Albie Collins, one of New Zealand's most prolific Kea hunters, shining a light onto a forgotten piece of New Zealand's past.
After painstakingly driving to Dunedin and back in a day, getting attacked by Kea at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, and staying awake for two days to reach the deadline, Josh and Ryan managed to create something they’re incredibly proud of.
Josh and Ryan notes "our film would never have been made without the help from the New Zealand Broadcasting School. The skills and guidance provided by our course was essential to the making of the Documentary, so we couldn't have done it without the help and support from our tutors. We’re proud to be students of NZBS and we’re looking forward to creating more Documentaries in the future."
